I am a cultural scientist. With the Master Degree Programme “Cultural management and cultural tourism” I have found the perfect combination between theory and practice. I’m not a native Berliner, but I grew up in this city. I always come back to Berlin. Berlin just doesn’t let me go!

In the office, I take care of the general business procedures, involving the first drafts and the detailed vision. The idea to train adolescent guides, who see Berlin with young eyes, enthuses me. I consider it important that our city tours are authentic. They are to convey an individual view of the city’s past and present.

On the streets of Berlin -

Several guides introduce themselves

Ema

I was born in the summer of 1993 and immediately fell in love with Berlin, with its thousand smells and the infinite possibilities the city offers. It suggested itself that, one day, I would guide visitors through my native town. Since March 2009 I am a tour guide at Wir sind Berlin and I meet many young people from all over the world to whom I can convey my view of Berlin. At the same time, I always learn something new about the city and I come to love it even more.

Berlin satisfies my interest in art and culture to its full extent. The multitude of languages, clubs, creativity, people and food from all over the world make every day exciting and delicious.

Sometimes I just stroll through the streets to discover something new. There are so many beautiful and inspiring spots here. In the summer, Berlin is at its best. My favourite places include the Hackesche Markt (and its surrounding areas), the Oberbaumbridge with the part of the river Spree behind the East Side Gallery (perfect for a chat with friends) and Kastanienallee in Prenzlauer Berg (splendid for spending money) and, of course, Kreuzberg.

I am 19 years old and have completed my Abitur this year. Presently, I’m completing vocational training as a foreign-language correspondent.
Since elementary school, I am interested in foreign languages. That’s why I have done my 11th grade high school year in the U.S.A. Besides English, I speak French and a bit Spanish. Although I am strongly attracted to foreign countries, Berlin is and always will be my home town. Since August, I’m working as a city guide and I always think it great to meet new people and share my knowledge of Berlin and its history.

I am twenty-one years old and I study politics and history at the Freie Universität Berlin. Usually I’m busy with a variety of things…. But from time to time I do take my time in order to go out with friends for a drink in the evening. To my mind, the unique flair of Bergmannstreet simply belongs to Berlin!

I am 18 years old and I go to the Canisius-Kolleg in Berlin Tiergarten. My school is located in the center of the city and every morning I look forward to driving towards the Siegessäule (Victory Column) on my bike. There’s always something happening in Berlin. Every day you can discover something new and, at the same time, every single stone has its own history. That’s why I like being a Berliner!

Last year I’ve completed my Abitur  at the Schiller-Gymnasium in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Since 2008 I’m working as a tour guide. I associate Berlin with culture, politics, people with different origins, and space for individual development.

I am a „prehistoric rock“ of  Wir sind Berlin. I’ve always been interested in history and politics. I really want to share my enthusiasm for Berlin with others. As a native West Berliner, the history of the cold war touches me in particular. The most important thing to me is the liveliness of the Berliners who, in the summer, bring life to the streets of Berlin and transform it into a Mediterranean city.

I’v been working for Wir sind Berlin for three years now and I have learned many different tours. I really like the Kita-Tour Fritz und Frederike and the Treasure hunt for school children. Of the adolescent tours I especially like the ones through the district Kreuzberg. This year I have taken a lot of exams. Now I’m finally an Abiturientin and soon will be college student. In my free time I play softball, which I enjoy very much. I started with the ‚Redpeppers‘ team and have moved on to the ‚Piranhas‘ now. It’s not that easy to manage all the games, but in the end it always works out ;-)

I am from Berlin-Spandau and I love foreign languages. Because of this I study French and I’ve taken my Erasmus year in France. I love Berlin because of its liveliness out of which always something new emerges. Having a migrant background myself, it’s the cultural diversity of Berlin I appreciate in particular. My favourite tours are those that convey the typical day-to-day life of Berlin to the tourists.

Friederike

I am Frederike and I’m 18 years old. This year I will complete my Abitur and I’m already looking forward to my studies. I was born in Berlin and I am interested in our beautiful city since quite a while. Especially because of the overabundance of culture and history it offers within fairly limited space. Since autumn 2010 I’m guiding visitors through Berlin and I’m looking forward to presenting Berlin to you.

Charly

I am Charlie, 20 years old, and I’ve completed my Abitur last year at the Schiller-Gymnasium. I’ve been living in Berlin my whole life and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, even though my roots lie in many other countries. For me, Berlin is the embodiment of life. The city vibrates with diversity and vitality, and I would like to get that across. I do the tours in English and German.
